Hey y'all! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wow. November and December seriously flew by! I posted about Holiday Footwear, and then danced right on into 2019 without another peep! I resolve to be a better blogger in 2019! So let's get to gettin'!
One thing you will not find here is outrageously priced items! I don't overspend on my wardrobe unless it is a TRUE "investment piece", which is another post for another time! Today, let's talk about three upcoming Spring Trends to begin purchasing and incorporating into your wardrobe NOW!
1. The Pantone Color of the Year: Living Coral
Y'all. I am tickled pinky-orange (I make myself laugh), to see this gorgeous coral plastered everywhere! Not only does coral have enough facets that it is great on just about every skin tone, but it is quintessentially Spring. The airy nature of this particular color, doesn't make it too bold and doesn't make it too precious. Don't get me wrong: it is certainly pink-adjacent, but her cooler, really-into-french-films, older sister.
Let's get to adding this punchy, feisty gal into your wardrobe! All pictures are clickable links that will prompt a new tab to open with the product page for easy accessibility!
First up is this killer suit from Topshop. You do purchase the blazer and trouser as separates, but spoiler alert: suits are HOT this Spring, so you might want to not...jus' sayin'... Let's say you pick up the trousers, as nothing can add vibrancy and an overall fresh-feeling to your blouse arsenal quite like a colorful pant, especially if the skies aren't exactly shinning! I love that these are a high-wasted, straight leg, with a slight crop, as this will be flattering on a lot of body types. With this pant I would style the following outfits, now & later:
Cream cowl-neck sweater, navy pump -or- Navy cowl-neck sweater, snakeskin pump (I will go into FULL DETAIL on colors, and how they can make or break an outfit for you, at a soon-ish date!)
White chiffon blouse, a light, long scarf containing navy, purple, and lime green, patent nude strappy sandal, or espadrille sandal
If a full-on, all-caps CORAL moment is just not your jive, or not best for your coloring, opt for a scarf that incorporates the shade, or better: a shoe! This is a great rule of thumb for colors you cannot wear next to your face, but you LOVE: purchase it in a pant, skirt, short, or shoe!
The one item that I would splurge on, as I see it as an investment piece, would be these bow-adorned kitten heels from Kohl's, which are $69.99 - though, the good thing about Kohl's is, if you stalk a product long enough you can score it at a total deep discount! These would be perfect paired with a jewel-toned heavy knit and a distressed jean now, and then into Spring with a white eyelet dress.
2. A Little Bit Country
This Texan is always giddy when elements I already gravitate towards become more prevalent in the shops! Whether it be a boot with a Western Stitch or Shape, or a chic Camo Handbag, you know your girl is ALL ABOUT IT!
Let's start with your new weekend go-to pant!
These Pixie Chinos from Old Navy are absolutely stellar!
You can easily take these from Grocery Store to Girls Night Out by adding a fab heel and a leather jacket over whatever tee you've been running around in. Camo is such a staple in my wardrobe, and the one thing I love the most about it, is that it acts as a neutral, and can be worn with darn near everything. Just please don't wear a camo top or bottom to the office, unless you have an extremely lax dress code.
Another way to start incorporating this trend is the white boot. The white boot in-and-of-itself is going to be big for Spring, and it's a fabulous way for you to update your current wardrobe rotation!
This boot right here by Indigo Rd. is at the top of my list! The details are just incredible, and while it may not immediately look like it; this boot is so versatile! Now, a white boot may not be your cup of your tea, and I totally understand that! This boot also comes in black, and there are so many bootie options popping up that have that hint of Western, that you are sure to find your perfect pair!
Of course, since the dawn of time, the jean jacket has been the staple for adding a bit of a country flare to any outfit, if that is more your comfort zone with this trend - you do you, sister! I am only here to help inspire you to put your best foot forward!
3. It's a Jungle Out There!
I love me a good, classic leopard print, but this spring, we are getting even more adventurous and deeper into the wild with TIGER print, SNAKEskin, and FEATHERS! (Oh my!) And you know that I am LIVING for IT!
Let's dive right on in to the print that you probably are the most leery of: Tiger. Tiger is most synonymous with Tigger, of the Pooh and Friends notoriety, and this print can be very easily overdone. I love this duster from Forever 21, but this where I would draw the line on the Tiger-to-Other ratio. I love the idea of a Tiger print pump or a sheer blouse, and keep everything else very simple, streamlined, and neutral - and you are ready to take on the world! The same rules apply to Snakeskin! I am a sucker for any blouse that has a tie-neck, but this one from Zara is next-level chic! Throw on a blazer for those chilly mornings, and strut your stuff!
Did you read Feathers and think I was a total loon? (get it!?) I am obsessed with pretty much any and all adornments of the feather, pom-pom, and fur varieties, and am so thrilled to see feathers being added to hemlines of everyday essentials, atop fabulous pumps, and being incorporated in gorgeous jewelry pieces! Here are some absolute must-haves while the temps are still a bit unpredictable!
