>>As hard as it is to believe that 2017 is halfway over, let's immediately forget that and embrace the fact that for many glorious months ahead we will be delightfully basking in the sunshine with nary a worry in the world!!
Okay, okay, the world's problems may still exist, but we can totally throw on our sunnies and dive into our own slice of heaven on earth: BOOKS!
New & Upcoming Releases for May, June, July, and August!
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon (Simon Pulse, Fiction), and this came out on May 30, so GO GET IT!
This sounds like an absolute ROMP! Recent High School Grad, Dimple, is going to a Summer Camp at Stanford, where she meets Rishi who she has no idea that is actually her BETROTHED! Yes! Their families have already set up their arranged marriage, and Demple is totally in the dark, but also totally heart-eyeing Rishi! Sounds like a little You've Got Mail meets Bollywood! YES PLEASE!
We are Never Meeting in Real Life by Samantha Irby (Vintage Books, Essays), which is also already out - RUN!
Firstly: ADORABLE KITTEN ON COVER! Secondly; Anyone with a Social Media presence is LOL-ing over this title! Thirdly; She is the author behind the Blog: Bitches Gotta Eat, where she talks about all things adulting and the many failures that come along with it! My snark-loving self is very excited for this one!
Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz (Harper, Fiction, on sale June 6)
Here is what I know: This is a book-within-a-book! The book which is within this book, being edited by our protagonist) is a Detective story set in the 1950s, and as the manuscript is being reviewd an entirely different mystery begins to unfold as it is quickly discovered that the final chapters have been stolen. (DUNDUNDUN!) This sounds fantastic!
Next up we have: The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand (Little, Brown, Fiction, on sale June 13)
I am a huge Elin Hilderbrand fan, especially of her fabulous, family-drama-filled Beach Reads! They all take place on Nantucket, and are always quick page-turners with twists that keep you coming back Summer after Summer! This novel follows identical twin sisters who have been on the outs for years, and a family crisis brings them together, and they must deal with the crux of their tattered relationship.
The Bookshop at Water's End by Patti Callahan Henry (Berkley books, Fiction, on sale July 11th)
I stumbled upon this one on that black-hole that is Goodreads (insert all the heart emojis), and I thought it sounded like the perfect pool-side Literary Fiction tale of friendships and mystery! This is the blurb on Goodreads:"The women who spent their childhood summers in a small southern town discover it harbors secrets as lush as the marshes that surround it..." An uncovering of secrets from the past set in the South - Count me in!
Fitness Junkie by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza (Doubleday, Fiction, on sale July 11th)
I have always been a huge proponent of Chick-Lit, I am absolutely 100% unashamed
and totally open for full-on pink-covered book discussion sessions anytime - just gimme the time and place!! So, of course, when I saw that Lucy Sykes (yes, her sister is Plum!) and Jo Piazza had a new novel coming out I literally squealed! I loved The Knockoff, and just know this is going to be a laugh-out-loud, pass-around-to-your-girfrands, riot of a novel! I am thinking modern-day Lucille Ball-type walks into a Bally's Total Fitness, and all hell breaks lose! Wait, maybe that is me and this is my life!? HA! I cannot wait to read this, while NOT walking on the treadmill! Ya heard!
Also from Goodreads: "From the bestselling authors of The Knockoff, an outrageously funny novel about one woman's attempt--through clay diets, naked yoga, green juice, and cultish workout classes--to win back her career, save her best friend, and lose thirty pounds."
Impossible Views of the World by Lucy Ives (Penguin Press, Fiction, on sale August 1)
This debut novel of Literary Fiction is set in a New York City museum: Done and done, two of my most favorite things! We have a divorce, a disappearance, a map, and a whirlwind quest for truth and understanding. Bring it on!
Sasquatch, Love, and Other Imaginary Things by Betsy Aldredge and Carrie DuBois-Shaw (Simon Pulse, on sale August 8)
Here is the thing: This YA debut novel is being dubbed by Goodreads as "Pride and Prejudice meets Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot." As someone who is from East Texas where Bigfoot conventions are a thing to do on a Saturday, and being a lover P&P and the wide-range of "adaptations" (...Everything is Copy!) I cannot wait for this adventure!!
Now you just need to grab your towel, slather on some SPF, stock up on your favorite refreshments, and tackle your new TBR pile! You're welcome!
