>>Welcome back to Nantucket, y'all!
I want to apologize for the delay in these Reviews, I have been extremely blessed to have recently received some very exciting ARCs, and I have been spending a lot of time cuddled up with those, and it has encroached on my bloggin' time! >>So here we go!
l am a huge fan of Elin Hilderbrand, the queen of the Summer Beach Read!
The Identicals does NOT disappoint, and we get to spend some time on Martha's Vineyard this go 'round! This story revolves around twin sisters, Tabitha and Harper, who were separated as children when their parents divorced; think The Parent Trap, and then completely wash their hands of one another after a family tragedy in their early 20s. They are now in their 40s, and when their father passes away they are forced to work together to get all the arrangements in order. At least, that is what they are supposed to be doing, if only they could just get on the same page and stop letting their pride and anger get the better of them! But, look out! Sometimes when you try to piece one area of your life together, other areas go straight to heck!
This novel is chock-full of hilarious dates, cringe-worthy betrayal, and what Elin does best: family drama that everyone can relate to in some form or fashion! I was super into this one because you have some great twists, especially in the area of their love-lives! It is super juicy, y'all! (Not necessarily in a sexy way, more in a "OH NO SHE DIDN'T!" way! - That is the best kind of juicy, if you ask me!)
My favorite part of this book was the way EH wrote about Nantucket versus Martha's Vineyard and how she juxtaposed the islands with the personalities of the twins! So good! I loved that element, and felt like it gave more depth to the overall story! There is so much grit and heart in this novel, it is very well-rounded and one that I would revisit!
I gave this ★★★★☆ on Goodreads! Highly recommend! If you are going to the Beach this summer, or plan to spend a lot of time reading by the pool, this book has to be on your list between 'Towel' and 'Sunscreen'! Better yet, this would be a great gift for your mama, sister, or friend to spend some R&R with this Summer!
